BHF is seeking a capable and technically minded Service Technician to join our growing Engineering Projects and Service team.
As a leading provider of advanced water treatment and process systems, BHF delivers technologies including DAF, ACF, UF, RO, PW, WFI, wastewater recovery, and customised process filtration systems across the food & beverage, pharmaceutical, industrial, and utilities sectors.
We are looking for a reliable and professional individual who can provide high-quality technical service, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning support, and customer assistance across a wide range of process and water treatment systems in industrial environments throughout Australia.
About the Role
This role involves servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting filtration, water treatment, and process systems across customer sites.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working around DAF, ACF, UF, RO, UV, PW, WFI and cartridge filtration systems, as well as pumps, valves, instrumentation, process pipework, and associated equipment. The role requires strong fault-finding ability, practical technical skills, and the ability to interpret and record operational data such as pressure, flow, conductivity, and differential pressure.
You will also support commissioning activities, startup assistance, site testing, and customer technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Service, Maintenance and Technical Support
- Service, maintain, troubleshoot, and support filtration, water treatment, and process equipment across BHF customer sites
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support to maintain operational reliability
- Inspect, repair, and replace components including filters, housings, pumps, valves, actuators, instruments, gauges, seals, fittings, and process pipework
- Diagnose mechanical, process, and basic electrical/control faults associated with filtration and water treatment systems
- Monitor and analyse system telemetry including pressure, differential pressure, conductivity, flow, temperature, and general operating performance
- Support membrane system operation and troubleshooting across filtration applications
- Assist with commissioning, flushing, testing, filter change-outs, startup activities, and basic process optimisation
- Support FAT/SAT and site commissioning activities alongside project and engineering teams
- Escalate unresolved technical issues through appropriate internal channels with clear technical detail and supporting information
2. Documentation, Reporting and Compliance
- Complete structured digital service reports, inspection records, job notes, asset history updates, parts usage records, and follow-up actions accurately and on time
- Capture clear field documentation including photos, operational readings, maintenance history, and technical observations
- Maintain disciplined documentation practices in line with customer audit, GMP, quality, and traceability requirements
- Follow BHF and customer site requirements relating to health, safety, environmental, quality, and operational compliance
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration information, and service history for customer equipment and systems
3. Customer Support & Commercial Awareness
- Provide professional technical support and communication to customer operations and maintenance teams
- Liaise with internal engineering, sales, and project teams to support customer requirements and project outcomes
- Identify recurring equipment issues, spare parts requirements, maintenance risks, upgrade opportunities, and potential service contract opportunities
- Escalate commercial opportunities and customer feedback to the relevant BHF team members in a timely and professional manner
- Support BHF’s fit-for-purpose approach by delivering practical, reliable, and application-appropriate technical service solutions
Requirements:
Essential
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar service, maintenance, or technical support role within industrial process, water treatment, or related technologies would be highly regarded
- Current and valid driver’s licence
- Strong mechanical aptitude with practical hands-on experience working on industrial equipment and process systems
- Experience in troubleshooting, fault finding, and diagnosing issues across mechanical, electrical, and process equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to respond effectively in operational environments
- Ability to work safely, professionally, and independently across customer and manufacturing sites
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Well-developed organisational skills with attention to detail and accurate service documentation practices
- Competent computer skills for digital reporting, service records, technical documentation, and communication
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a technical service and projects team
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as required, including occasional interstate travel and site-based work
Desirable, but not essential
- Experience in water treatment, filtration, pumps, pipework, mechanical services, or process equipment
- Experience working on industrial, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or processing sites
- Experience working with RO, UF, MF, cartridge filtration, or process skids
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, basic technical drawings, and equipment manuals
- Exposure to instrumentation, controls, PLC systems, or basic electrical fault finding
- Forklift, EWP, confined space, or working at heights tickets
- Certificate, diploma, trade qualification, or tertiary study in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, process, environmental, water treatment, or engineering-related disciplines
