Exciting Opportunity: Join Our Growing Team
The Business Development Manager is a field-based commercial role responsible for growing BHF Technologies’ representation of Amazon Filters Ltd in Singapore. Expansion of the territory into other neighbouring regions is under consideration and may form part of the role in future. The role combines account management of existing customers with proactive new business development across BHF’s process filtration, hardware and purification systems offering.
This role suits an energetic, organised self-starter who enjoys building new industry contacts and is confident discussing process filtration with operations, engineering, quality and procurement teams. A typical week combines several customer meetings to service existing accounts and drive new growth, with dedicated office time to action meeting outcomes, send follow-up emails and quotes, and book appointments for the following week. The role provides regular feedback to the management team on successes, market conditions, opportunities and events to be proactive in driving growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development: Proactively generate new industry contacts and opportunities across Singapore. Conduct market research, identify and qualify target sites and decision-makers, secure introductory meetings, and map BHF’s value proposition to each prospect’s process needs.
- Account Management & Retention: Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of existing customers. Maintain account records and site audit sheets, build multi-level stakeholder relationships, track changes in customer structure, and work with the Regional Manager and Sales Manager on key account strategies.
- Process Filtration Expertise: Confidently discuss process filtration applications, performance and total cost of operation with customers. Maintain working knowledge of the BHF range, encourage site-wide process reviews, and engage Projects and technical support for system opportunities and complex enquiries.
- Call Planning & Organisation: Develop and maintain structured weekly and 90-day call plans matched to account size, opportunity and territory. Plan efficient coverage of Singapore customers, balancing service of existing accounts with new business activity.
- Customer Meetings: Conduct several customer meetings each week, predominantly in person, to service existing accounts, present solutions, complete site audits and drive new growth.
- Office Time & Follow-Through: Use scheduled office time to action meeting outcomes promptly: send follow-up emails, prepare and issue quotations, progress open opportunities, and generate and confirm appointments for the following week.
- Growth: Identify opportunities within accounts, introduce new product lines, displace competitors, leverage alliances, uncover systems opportunities, convert system supply into service and spares contracts, and maintain an accurate pipeline.
- Management Feedback & Market Proactivity: Provide regular feedback to the management team on wins, successes, pipeline, competitor activity and market trends. Recommend proactive initiatives — target sectors, campaigns, events and partnerships — to drive growth in the region.
- Contracts & Commercial Risk: Protect BHF’s commercial interests on contracts and POs; assess procurement risk; establish customer supply agreements and escalate high-risk situations.
- Stock & Inventory: Monitor customer consumption, coordinate replenishment, manage consignment stock and clear slow-moving stock. Maintain accurate Site Filter Audit information including customer forecast usage.
- Records, CRM & Administration: Maintain CRM records for all contacts, meetings and opportunities; prepare quotations and process orders accurately; drive product lifecycle conversion; deliver activity and pipeline reports.
- Safety: Always comply with BHF and client safe work practices, using appropriate PPE.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Energy & Drive: An energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys meeting people, opening doors and building a network of new industry contacts.
- Technical Confidence: Confident discussing process filtration with operations, engineering, quality and procurement personnel. A background in engineering, science or technical industrial sales (e.g. pharmaceutical, semiconductor, food & beverage, chemical or water) is highly regarded.
- Organisation: Highly organised and able to plan, manage and work a weekly call cycle independently, with disciplined follow-up and CRM habits.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication; prompt, professional follow-up with customers and clear, regular reporting to management.
- Regional Mobility: Based in Singapore, with expansion to other regions a possibility in future. Willingness to travel in future would be an advantage.
